2009 Resolutions

Deadstock

Lanark

WHEREAS  the provincial government financial assistance has expired for deadstock removal effective February 28th, and
WHEREAS this loss of funding causes a loss of service to producers and affects all livestock commodities (dairy, beef, sheep, etc.) and
WHEREAS the deadstock removal program is essential to ensuring the removal of Specific Risk Material (SRM) from the environment, thus eliminating associated public health risks, and
WHEREAS the beef industry has been hit hard enough by the economy and trade barriers;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Ontario Cattlemen’s Association work with the livestock organizations – OFA, NFU, and CFFO – to lobby the Ontario government to reinstate provincial funding for deadstock removal.
