2009 Resolutions

Nutrient Management Act

Lambton

1) Whereas there are a number of Ontario cattlemen required to do a 5 year renewal of existing Nutrient Management Plans (NMP) in the winter of 2009/2010;

And whereas lobbying the provincial government to reconsider the renewal requirement under the Nutrient Management Act (NMA) has potential unintended consequences;

And whereas many Ontario Cattlemen are now more comfortable and experienced with the NMA's regulations and protocols;

Therefore be it resolved that the Ontario Cattlemen's Association (OCA) develop a pilot project with co-operation from the provincial government to educate producers on how to become certified and develop their own NMP to help offset the costs associated with the renewal process and improve the industry's producer understanding of the NMA.

2) Be it resolved that the OCA consult producers in regards to seeking a preferred solution to the current 5 year renewal requirement within the NMA.
