At the March 30-31st OCA Board
of Directors meeting, the 2009 OCA budget was approved. OCA is pleased
to inform members that the Board has agreed to continue to deliver the
county grants and the share-cost program at current levels.
County/district associations will continue to receive $1000 when they
submit their annual meeting minutes to OCA. Share-cost program levels
will continue to be at a maximum of 80% funding, up to $5,000, per
county/district association. Up to $2500 can be used for producer
education and up to $2500 can be used for consumer education.
In 2008, approximately
$107,000 was paid out to 40 counties from OCA through the share-cost
program. If every county were to maximize their share-cost allocation,
$245,000 would be disbursed. Due to the economic challenges being faced
by the beef industry, it is expected that check-off events will decrease
in 2009. Therefore, the OCA Board of Directors agreed that they would
not channel unused funds from counties that do not claim projects under
the share-cost program to other counties that would like extra funds.
OCA encourages producers to
continue your local fundraising activities to help fund special events
or needs that exceed the OCA share-cost program funding. |
