With
regard to the first resolution, we received information from OMAFRA that
NMP certification training is available. The information and contact
are below.
Producers can also develop their own certified NMP/NMS, and this is the
cheapest option. It takes time - which is usually what drives producers
to hire someone. OMAFRA offers the software and advice for free. They
offer courses for less than $100 per course for producers – the
Regulations and Protocols course can be done over the internet at the
producer’s convenience, and the NMAN software course is offered at
particular times of the year. Regulations and Protocols is also a
classroom course that requires a minimum of five producers before the
course will be scheduled. The courses can be held locally. OMAFRA is
willing to run commodity-specific courses if you wish. The certification
requirements have been extended for producers to do their own strategies
– they need to do a 3rd Edition EFP, the Regulations course,
and a quiz in order to get their certification to do their own NMS/NMP.

With
regard to the second resolution, OCA will seek input from other impacted
beef producers before taking any action. While we understand the
position of a few producers in Lambton County, we do not want any action
to impose annual approvals onto producers who are satisfied with the
current process. We will inform you of any decision and action that we
take on this matter. |
