How to Deal With Cattle Theft

 
The guidelines below were developed to help producers know how to effectively react if they know or are suspicious that cattle have been stolen from their property. This guide was developed jointly by the Ontario Cattlemen's Association, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, several insurance organizations in Ontario, and concerned producers.

STOLEN CATTLE???  WHAT TO DO… If you think your cattle have been stolen

WHO? WHAT?
Producer • IMMEDIATELY Notify OPP and affected insurance company about theft; give description of cattle, number missing 
• call OCA at 519-824-0334
OPP • Contact OCA about theft; give description of cattle, number missing and a contact at the OPP for further liaison
OCA Notify sales barns of the theft; give description of cattle, number missing
OCA Advises OPP about what sales barns have sales in the immediate future
OCA Notifies OMAFRA, including office in affected area
