As the senior staff person at OCA, the Executive Director is responsible
for oversight and proactive management of all facets of the
organization. Responsibilities include a lead role on government
relations, development of annual budgets, monitoring of OCA’s
financial performance, all human resources activities and management of
a wide variety of issues.

Assistant Manager |

The
Assistant Manager is responsible for producer liaison, working
with OCA's Cow/Calf and Feedlot Committees, and the Feeder Finance and
Breeder Loan Co-ops. This staff person works closely with the Canadian
Cattlemen's Association on issues that are national in scope in
addition to liaising with other agricultural organizations in order to
make efficient use of OCA resources.

Policy Advisor |

The OCA Policy Advisor is responsible for researching and documenting
all aspects of a variety of issues facing the beef industry. This person
explores policy options and assesses how these fit with the positions
held by other organizations. Duties also include the preparation of
position papers, strategy documents and assistance in the development of
lobby strategies. The Policy Advisor works with staff members to develop
coherent and strategic messaging.

Communications Manager |

The Communications Manager leads OCA's efforts to communicate with
members and the general public. Responsibilities
include: the OCA Weekly Update, the OCA Website and
Ontario Beef magazine. As well this person is the lead in developing
corporate presentations and coordinating media relations.
The Communications Manager coordinates the OCA Sharecost program, the
Environmental Stewardship Award (TESA) and serves as the Privacy Officer
for the organization. As well, this staff person coordinates marketing
efforts and promotional
item inventories, and attends trade shows as needed. |

The Executive Assistant has the lead responsibility for
administrative/secretarial/reception duties, meetings and event
coordination, and preparation for Board and annual meetings. The EA
provides direct support to the Executive Director, generates
correspondence, reports, and minutes as required, and performs and
assists other staff members with projects as required. |

Research and Projects Coordinator |

The Research and Projects Coordinator
works with the OCA Research Committee and is responsible for
coordination and administration of OCA research projects, industry
development funding and Ministry funding. Other responsibilities include
branding registration and fees, management of the VBP-QSH database and
assisting with OFAC Helpline requests. This staff person also
assists the Executive Assistant as required, acts as backup to the
Market Information Coordinator, helps in maintaining the OCA membership
database and answering phones and other office duties as required. |

Responsibilities of the Market Information Coordinator include managing
the computer database, maintaining OCA’s market information Web site,
daily communications with livestock auction markets and packers,
preparation of price reports, market summaries and media commentaries
and responding to information requests from producers. |

Bookkeeper |

The Bookkeeper is responsible for OCA’s bookkeeping and accounting
work including payroll, benefits, accounts receivable, accounts payable
and financial statements. The OCA Bookkeeper also serves as
Circulation Coordinator for Ontario Beef magazine, and maintains
the publication's mailing list. |

Water Quality Specialist |

This is a shared contract position with Ontario Pork and the Ontario Sheep
Marketing Agency. The Water Quality Specialist is responsible for
analyzing government regulations related to water quality issues (e.g.
Bill 81) and assisting the organizations to develop and manage their
responses. The position also plays a key role in providing input in
research priorities with respect to water and environmental issues.

VBP-QSH Coordinator/CCIA Liaison

The Coordinator of the Quality Starts Here program is responsible for the
facilitation of QSH workshops and promotion of the program to beef
producers across Ontario. He is also responsible for providing
support to beef producers involved in the QSH program; assisting with
the development of on-farm standard operating procedures, records and
documentation and preparation for on-farm audits for farm certification. |

Check-Off Inspector |

The Check-off Inspector has
the responsibility of conducting inspections of records at auction
markets, packers, dealers and producers regarding collection of and
remittance of license fee deductions. The position must be appointed by
the Lieutenant Governor in Council as an inspector under the Beef Cattle
Marketing Act and/or the Livestock and Livestock Products Act. |

Provincial Program Supervisor
Ontario Feeder Cattle Program and Ontario Beef Breeder Co-op Programs |

This position works on a part time contract basis with
OCA to promote the Feeder Finance Program, supervise the co-ops, provide
leadership and director training as per an agreement OCA has with the
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. The Provincial
Program Supervisor visits all the co-ops on at least a yearly basis. As
well, as part-time Supervisor of the Beef Breeder Co-op, this person is
responsible for promoting the program and providing leadership to the
co-ops with respect to policies, insurance, and audit requirements. The
position also provides guidance and leadership to the Board members and
facilitate communication and correspondence among co-ops. |

Advertising Manager, Ontario Beef |

The Ontario Beef magazine Advertising Manager works on contract with OCA
out of a satellite office. This position is responsible for selling and
preparing advertising for Ontario Beef magazine and includes liaison
with advertisers, graphic designers and the magazine printer. |
