The Structure of OCA |
|
|
The Ontario Cattlemen’s Association is a grass roots organization governed by its members. Member participation is encouraged through 50 county/district Cattlemen’s Associations in the province.
The Board of Directors is elected by delegates to the OCA Annual
Convention and consists of 12 producers representing all sectors
and all geographical locations in the province (three cow/calf, three
feedlot, one backgrounder, one from Northern Ontario, one from Southern
Ontario, one from Eastern Ontario and two elected at large). Each local Association elects a
councillor to the OCA Advisory Council and each local association is entitled to send a number of voting delegates to the Annual Meeting based on membership and cattle numbers in that county or district.
The OCA Board of Directors meets monthly. The Advisory
Council meets two to three times each year. There are also three
standing committees of OCA (cow/calf, feedlot and research) consisting of representatives from the
Board, from the Advisory council and from the membership at large.
